In the 12th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Gujarat Titans (GT) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad tomorrow i.e. Sunday, April 9 at 3:30 PM IST.
The defending champions of the season have continued their form from the last edition by winning both of their matches so far. While there are no superstars on the team, they have a slew of consistent players across the squad who have contributed collectively like an efficiently functioning unit to crush the competition.
Wriddhiman Saha and Shubhman Gill will be eager to get off to a good start in this game. Gill got a half-century against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and appears to be in fine form. Vijay Shankar and Sai Sudharsan provide consistency in the middle order, while Hardik Pandya and David Miller are the team’s ideal finishers. Courtesy of Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan, the Titans have a lot of batting depth and will be hoping to score well. Mohammad Shami and Alzarri Joseph have been also offering splendid performances and Rashid has also been at his devious best in the spin department.
The Knight Riders fans would have been unhappy with the outcome of their first match, as they suffered a narrow defeat to Punjab Kings (PBKS). Nonetheless, they emerged victorious at the Eden Gardens in style with a resounding win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Thursday. The management has now brought in Jason Roy to replace Shakib Al Hassan for the forthcoming matches, and fans can expect more fireworks from him after witnessing his sparkling knocks in the past. But the question is, who will he replace?
On paper, the Knight Riders’ middle order appears to be far weaker than that of the Titans. However, we saw outstanding performances from Rinku Singh and Shardul Thakur in the previous match, and they will be aiming to keep the momentum going. Andre Russell and Sunil Narine will be vital players once again, as their hard-hitting ability may rapidly affect the momentum of the game in Ahmedabad. Suyash Sharma had a wonderful IPL debut and will aim to keep the momentum going.
