In the 44th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the defending champions, Gujarat Titans (GT) will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad today i.e. Tuesday, May 2 at 7:30 PM IST.
GT have won four of their previous five games, including three away from home, and are establishing themselves as a serious contender in the competition. In search of their fourth straight victory, the Gujarat-based team will travel back to their home ground to face DC. They are in first place in the standings following a comfortable victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their previous game, and they are hungry to keep winning.
From the openers through the middle order, everything is working for GT. The performance of Vijay Shankar and Abhinav Manohar, who boost the team towards the end of the innings, is yet another exciting news for fans. Not to mention some incredible bowling performances from players like Mohammad Shami, Joshua Little, and others. Rashid Khan will also be celebrating a memorable occasion as it will be his 400th T20 game.
On the other side, DC are currently wallowing at the bottom of the points table with only two wins out of eight games played thus far, in the competition. They will, nonetheless, be looking to build on their recent loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and provide a great performance in their upcoming game.
The Delhi-based team would undoubtedly prefer that more players raise their hands, starting with captain David Warner. Despite having scored runs earlier, albeit not at the strike rate he is known for, he was bowled for a first-ball duck against his former franchise. Nevertheless, the batting-friendly conditions in Ahmedabad should give Warner confidence to resume his form. Furthermore, aside from Axar Patel, the Indian middle order has simply not gelled. A promotion for the left-hander could be beneficial, but the visitors still need to accomplish a lot of tasks before they can defeat the behemoth of the ongoing edition.
In the head-to-head matchup, GT have the upper hand over DC. The hosts won two in two games against the Delhi side.
In their previous match, which took place earlier this year, GT won the match by six wickets.
