In the Eliminator match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will face Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai tomorrow i.e. Wednesday, May 24 at 7:30 PM IST.
The Lucknow-based team had a notable season this time around as they qualified for the playoffs for the second time in a row. The team appeared to be at the top of its game at the start of the season but underperformed in the second half. Nonetheless, they won their last two games to secure a playoff spot. Both victories were hardly convincing, but they were sufficient for LSG to qualify. However, now that they face MI, the team will try to be optimistic and win decisively in order to make it to Ahmedabad. They have a terrific record of three wins in three games against the five-time IPL champions, which will certainly encourage them. While the opener, Quinton de Kock is playing well, the middle order has taken the spotlight in recent games. Prerak Mankad, Marcus Stoinis, Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran have all been outstanding, and it appears that no target is out of reach for this batting combination. Bowlers are also picking wickets in a pack. Yash Thakur has been the find of the season for them while the form of Mohsin Khan and Ravi Bishnoi will let LSG fans keep their hopes high from this game.
MI, on the other hand, had a rocky start to their campaign but victories at the Wankhede Stadium gave them some momentum, which helped them qualify for the playoffs. despite the fact that they finished fourth in the standings, their recent success would allow them to believe that they are the favourites in tomorrow’s fixture. Rohit Sharma is back in form, and supporters are hoping for big scores from him in the remainder of the tournament. Ishan Kishan is also striking the ball brilliantly, while Suryakumar Yadav‘s form needs not to be reminded. Cameron Green and Tim David are also contributing vital runs towards the end of the innings, and with the ball, Piyush Chawla and Akash Madhwal are giving the batters a run for their money.
Head-to-Head:
The two teams have met thrice, so far, with the Krunal Pandya-led side emerging victorious on all three occasions. In their previous match, which was played a few days ago in Lucknow, LSG won by five runs.
