In the 50th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Delhi Capitals (DC) will welcome Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) tonight i.e. Saturday, May 6 at the Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delhi at 7:30 PM IST.
DC have turned their season around with three wins in their last four games after starting out with five straight losses. The confident Delhi-based side comes with a victory away from home over the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT), after holding them to a modest 130/8. Nonetheless, the David Warner-captained team still has a lot of room for improvement, especially considering how poorly their batting has performed without Rishabh Pant. Many players, including Sarfaraz Khan, Rilee Rossouw, Manish Pandey, Priyam Garg, and Phil Salt, have been quite bad this season. With the ball, however, they have performed admirably thus far. Fans have witnessed some outstanding performances from Ishant Sharma, Anrich Nortje, and Axar Patel and will expect the same from them.
Similar trends can be seen in RCB’s recent performance, which consists of three victories in their previous four games, including a low-scoring, emotionally charged game in Lucknow where their 126 proved to be excessive for the hosts. With the fight for the playoffs heating up in the business half of the competition, RCB have moved up to the fifth place and may move into the top four with a victory over DC. The seasoned duo of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli will once again aim to get RCB off to a strong start as a result of their excellent form. Glenn Maxwell has been the only performer in the middle order, which has caused some problems for the side. Anju Rawat, Suyash Prabhudessai, Dinesh Karthik and others will be required to score some runs for the Banglore-based team. Furthermore, the bowlers have performed admirably in the previous game, and once again fans may anticipate early wickets from Josh Hazlewood and Mohammad Siraj. In a supporting role, Karn Sharma, Mahipal Lamror and Harshal Patel will try to keep the Capitals under pressure.
Head-to-Head:
The advantage in the head-to-head matchup between the two teams belongs to RCB. 28 games were contested between the two teams, with Banglore winning 17 and DC winning 10. RCB triumphed by 23 runs in their previous match at the Chinnaswamy stadium, earlier this year.
