IPL 2023 DC vs GT: Sudharsan, Miller seal vital victory for GT on away turf

In the seventh match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Gujarat Titans (GT) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Gujarat Titans won the toss and elected to bowl first. With some serious bowlers in their arsenal, the visitors succefully restricted the home side for a below par score of 162/8 in 20 overs. Rashid Khan and Mohammad Shami were at their best with the ball which led to such positive outcome for the Hardik Pandya-led team.

While chasing, GT suffered some hiccups as even they were not at their level best with the willow. Both the inform openers and captain Pandya lost their wickets in the powerplay itself, but it was Sai Sudharsan (62) who didn’t shy away from showing his skills. The left handed batter struck an impress half century which included four fours and two sixes. Although Sudharsan’s inning was slow he was steady in the chase which eventually helped GT to not panic. Along with him, David Miller (31) came in towards the end and showed his true nature with the bat. Killer Miller smashed at the strike rate of around 200 which totally took away the game from the home team in just 18.1 overs. In the end, it was a clinical chase by the defending champions of IPL.

In the first innings, David Warner (37) played a decent knock but wasn’t looking comfortable throughout his knock. Alongside him, Sarfaraz Khan (30) also played a handy knock for DC, as the team had already lost too many wickets. Towards the end, Axar Patel (36*) played a blazing knock to take DC to a respectable total.

Three wickets each were taken by Rashid Khan and Mohammad Shami in the first innings. With them, Alzarri Joseph also bagged two vital wickets in his quota of four overs.

For DC, pacer Anrich Nortje claimed two wickets while one wicket each was taken by Khaleel Ahmed and Mitchell Marsh.

Sai Sudharsan was named Man of the Match for his amazing outing with the bat. Following this win, Gujarat Titans have won two consecutive games and are now sitting at the top of the table.
