IPL 2023 CSK vs SRH: Jadeja, Conway help CSK secure two vital points

Following this win, CSK have now won their fourth game of the season and are now placed third on the points table.

In the 29th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai.

MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to field first. The decision was excellent as the home team effectively held SRH to a low score. Ravindra Jadeja, Matheesha Pathirana, and co. were all economical, allowing them to restrict SRH to 134 runs.

In the chase, both the opening batters, Devon Conway (77*) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (35), were once again impactful with the bat as they stitched 87 runs for the first wicket partnership. While Gaikwad got runout, Conway continued to bat until the chase was completed. In his inning, Conway smashed 12 fours and just one six, demonstrating how careful he was with his wicket. The knocks from the opening pair were enough to secure the win for CSK in just 18.4 overs.

While setting the target, SRH struggled to get the ball right in the middle of the bat. Though Abhishek Sharma (34) and inform Harry Brook (18) commenced on some decent note, no one else could get any massive individual runs. Rahul Tripathi (21), Heinrich Klassen (17) and Marco Jansen (17) were the other batters to get some runs with the bat.

Ravindra Jadeja picked up three wickets while bowling in the first innings. Along with him, one wicket each was also taken by Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana and Akash Singh.

For SRH, only Mayank Markande was able to pick up two wickets while defending.

Ravindra Jadeja was adjudged Player of the Match for his bowling performance. Following this win, CSK have now won their fourth game of the season and are now placed third on the points table.
