The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 has achieved a milestone by clocking a staggering 48.2 crore (482 million) viewers through the live broadcast on Disney Star, the official television broadcaster of the competition.

This exceptional viewership total has broken all prior records, exceeding the greatest registered viewership in the 2019 edition. The tournament’s enormous popularity reinforces the IPL’s reputation as the globe’s premier cricket event.

The IPL 2023 not only drew a large audience, but it also generated 36000 crore (360 billion) minutes of total consumption, as per BARC data. This exceptional level of participation demonstrates the IPL’s continued appeal and significance among fans worldwide.

In addition, four more matches in the seventh week had peak TV concurrency of over 3 crore viewers, increasing the total tally of games with peak concurrency surpassing 3 crore to an amazing 40 on television for IPL 2023. Amongst these matches, the week seven duel between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was the most watched, with 4.2 crore viewers tuning in. The CSK versus Gujarat Titans (GT) match had the greatest peak TV concurrency of the tournament, garnering an astounding 5.6 crore of viewers.

The cash-rich league continues to develop rapidly, with a 43% increase in weekly TVR year on year during week seven. After the end of 66 thrilling matches, the tournament’s TVR increased by 32% compared to the previous season.
