IPL 2022: Three crucial players for Lucknow Super Giants

The team has put together a pretty solid squad that has the potential to win the trophy this year.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has always been a source of entertainment, which is amplified whenever new teams are introduced. The upcoming season will be bigger and more extravagant, with ten teams competing for the IPL title.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are one of the two new franchises. The team has put together a pretty solid squad that has the potential to win the trophy this year. Let’s take a look at the top three players who could be pivotal for the Sanjiv Goenka-owned team in the IPL 2022:

  1. KL Rahul

KL Rahul, the captain of Lucknow, will play the attacking brand of cricket that he is more than capable of and has demonstrated in the past. Rahul was got onboard by Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 2018 auction and led them for two seasons (2020 and 2021). He won 11 and lost 14 games as captain. He also went on to become the leading run-scorer for PBKS (2,548 runs at an average of 56.62). During his tenure, however, the team failed to make it to the playoffs even once.

Under the mentorship of Gautam Gambhir and in the company of the opening partner and fellow wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock, Rahul as captain, batsman, and keeper will not be under as much pressure as he was during his PBKS days.

This new chapter in KL Rahul’s IPL storybook will undoubtedly add more excitement.

  1. Marcus Stoinis

LSG has placed a lot of trust in the Australian all-rounder, Marcus Stoinis, who previously played for Delhi Capitals (DC). Marcus scored 914 runs and took 30 wickets so far in his IPL career. He has been a solid player overall and is capable of changing the course of the game instantly. Stoinis will likely play at number four for LSG and will have a bit more responsibility than before. It will be interesting to see how he adjusts with the new team and make things happen in the LSG camp.

  1. Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi, who recently made his international debut, is living his dream. No one would have guessed a year ago what was written in this man’s fate as now he’s the lead spinner of the LSG bowling attack.

In his IPL career, he has 24 wickets in 23 innings at an economy rate of less than 7. The youngster has the capability of providing tight overs and taking big wickets. Bishnoi is also a splendid fielder in the outfield.

LSG’s IPL 2022 journey will commence against the other new team, Gujarat Titans (GT) on March 28 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
