In the 54th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will square off with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for the second time in the season. The fixture will take place on Sunday, May 8 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai at 3:30 PM IST.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently going through a three-game losing streak. After making a comeback by winning five consecutive games, the 2016 champions seem to have lost their momentum as their bowlers have been conceding runs. In the last two games against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) respectively, SRH couldn’t manage to keep the opponents under 200 in the allotted 20 overs. The Hyderabad-based franchise will pay more attention to their pace battery before stepping on the field on Sunday. With 10 points, SRH have acquired the sixth position.
On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore also got over the finish line after witnessing three back-to-back defeats. RCB needs to win their remaining fixtures to secure their place in the top four. The ace batsman, Virat Kohli has contributed with the bat in the last two innings but the strike rate has been the issue. Josh Hazlewood has been consistent with the ball while Harshal Patel getting back to taking wickets in death overs is a positive sign for the Bangalore-based team. After 11 games, RCB won six and lost five games. The Faf du Plessis-led team occupied the fourth spot with 12 points.
SRH lead the head-to-head competition between the two teams. Both franchises played against each other on 21 occasions, Hyderabad emerged victorious 12 times while Bangalore won nine matches.
In the last outing between the two teams earlier this season, SRH thrashed RCB in a nine-wicket victory.
