In the 49th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, the two heavyweights of the tournament, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will play against each other on Wednesday, May 4 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune at 7:30 PM IST.
The defending champions seem to be back on the winning track after Mahendra Singh Dhoni took the command. Ravindra Jadeja relinquished the Chennai Super Kings captaincy on Saturday to focus on his game. The former CSK captain, Dhoni accepted the role and helped the team register its third victory in an underwhelming season. The four-time IPL champions outplayed Sunrisers Hyderabad (IPL) on Sunday while defending a target of 203. The Chennai-based team played nine games so far out of which they won thrice and lost six matches. With six points, CSK have acquired the ninth spot on the leaderboard.
Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their momentum out in the middle after starting the season on a positive note. The performance of the team has been a letdown after the initial few games. Apart from the half-century in the previous game against Gujarat Titans (GT), Virat Kohli hasn’t got along in the current season so far. RCB are on a three-match losing streak. After playing 10 fixtures in the season, the Bangalore-based team has won and lost five games each. With 10 points, RCB have occupied the fifth position on the leaderboard.
CSK have a massive lead in the head-to-head competition against RCB. The two teams squared off on 29 occasions, Chennai won 19 games while Bangalore emerged victorious on nine instances.
In the last outing between the two sides earlier this season, CSK won the fixture by 23 runs.
