In the 60th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will collide to stay alive in the playoffs qualifying race. The fixture will take place on May 13, Friday at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai at 7:30 PM IST.
Royal Challengers Bangalore had an uneven season so far. They started the season well before they slumped to three consecutive defeats and endangered their position in the top four of the table. RCB bounced back after winning their previous two games, which will provide them confidence moving ahead into the tournament. The biggest concern for the star-studded team is the current form of their prime batsman, Virat Kohli, who has suffered multiple golden ducks in IPL 2022. After playing 12 games, the Faf du Plessis-led team won seven and lost five fixtures. With 14 points, the Bangalore franchise has acquired the fourth spot.
On the other end, Punjab Kings are fighting to stay alive in the playoffs race. After beating the table toppers, Gujarat Titans, PBKS suffered a six-wicket defeat against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their previous outing. PBKS will have to win their remaining three games to stay in contention for the knockouts stage. Apart from Arsheep Singh, the team’s bowling unit has been a let down as the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Sandeep Sharma and Rahul Chahar have been leaking runs. After registering 10 points in 11 games, PBKS have occupied the eighth position.

PBKS have the upper hand in the head-to-head competition between the two teams. Both franchises have faced off on 29 occasions. Punjab won 15 fixtures while Bangalore emerged victorious 14 times.
In the last outing between the two teams earlier this season, PBKS won the match by five wickets.
