In the 64th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will take on each other to keep themselves in contention for a place in the playoffs. The fixture will be conducted on Monday, May 16 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai at 7:30 PM IST.
Delhi Capitals have kept themselves alive in the playoffs race after registering a thumping victory against the in-form Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the previous week. The absence of Prithvi Shaw has been felt at the opening slot but David Warner has been contributing consistently and guiding the team over the finish line. Mitchell Marsh’s all-round contribution along with Rovman Powell firing on all cylinders could advance them into the knockout stage of the season. After playing 12 fixtures, DC won and lost six games each. With 12 points, the Delhi franchise has acquired the fifth spot.
On the other end, Punjab Kings, who had an inconsistent season so far, are also fighting it out to book a berth for themselves in the playoffs. After beating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) over the weekend, the 2014 finalists have given themselves a chance to power into the playoffs. Liam Livingstone has been a crucial player for the team in the season. The English player’s all-round performance has won them a couple of games. The bowling unit has been doing a fair job with the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Arshdeep Singh being economical and striking at crucial moments. PBKS have occupied the seventh position with 12 points.

PBKS have the upper hand in the head to head competition. Both franchises collided on 29 occasions, Punjab won 15 games while Delhi emerged victorious on 14 occasions.
DC won the game by nine wickets when the two teams played against each other earlier this season.
