In the 26th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will lock horns with the struggling Mumbai Indians (MI) on Saturday, April 16 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai at 3:30 PM IST.
Mumbai Indians have been really off the track so far in the ongoing season. The five-time IPL champions have played five fixtures till now and haven’t managed to get over the finish line even once. The Rohit Sharma-led unit had been in complete control of the game in a couple of matches but couldn’t maintain the grip, which could have helped them to attain the two crucial points. In their previous game, MI lost against Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 12 runs. While chasing the total of 199, the Mumbai-based team was in a commanding position in the chase but a couple of runouts and a lack of depth in batting cost them the game. Before stepping out on the field on Saturday, MI will look to figure out some major issues to make a comeback in the season. Currently, MI have acquired the last position on the table.
On the other end, Lucknow Super Giants commenced their debut season with a defeat against their fellow entrants, Gujarat Titans (GT). Following the five-wicket loss, the IPL debutants bounced back with three consecutive victories. In their latest fixture, the KL Rahul-led franchise lost against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a last-over thriller. The plus point of the game was the addition of Marcus Stoinis to the team, the Aussie, who was playing his first game of the season smashed the RR bowlers in the death overs and almost won the game for his team. The Lucknow-based team will look to bounce back and keep their spot reserved in the top four of the table. At the moment, with six points, LSG are at the fourth spot.
