IPL 2022 MI vs LSG: KL Rahul’s unbeaten ton scores two points for LSG

With this win, LSG gets to eight points and are now second on the points table.

In the 26th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) beat Mumbai Indians (MI) by 18 runs.

After winning the toss, Rohit Sharma asked LSG to bat first on a good batting track of Brabourne Stadium. The afternoon match was well set to witness a heavy downpour of runs and it did happen too as KL Rahul, who was playing his 100th IPL game, celebrated this occasion with a century. The LSG captain scored an unbeaten 103 in 60 deliveries with nine 4’s and five 6’s. The right-handed opener scored these many runs at a strike rate of 171.67. Rahul’s partnership with Quinton de Kock (24) and Manish Pandey (38) helped the team reach a massive total at the end of the inning. Along with them, a cameo from Hooda (15) aided the new IPL franchise to register 199/4 in their 20 overs.

In response, Mumbai Indians once again failed to get a good start as both the openers lost their wickets cheaply. The South African youngster, Brewis (31) smashed some quickfire runs to get MI back in the game but failed to bat through. Suryakumar Yadav (37) and Tilak Verma (26) continued to fight as they put up a 64 runs partnership for the fourth wicket. In the end, it was just too much for Kieron Pollard to get but he tried his best to get the first two points for MI.

Avesh Khan was the star of the evening as he picked up three wickets for LSG. Holder, Chameera, Bishnoi and Stoinis also scalped one wicket each to help LSG win their fourth match of IPL 2022.
For MI, it was Unadkat who took two wickets. Allen and Ashwin also managed to pick one wicket each.

KL Rahul was adjudged Man of the Match for his brilliant batting performance. With this win, LSG gets to eight points and are now second on the points table.
