IPL 2022 LSG vs DC: Quinton shines in a sluggish run chase on a tricky pitch

Lucknow Super Giants won their third game of the season and now are second in the points table.

In the 15th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets at the D.Y. Patil Stadium.

After winning the toss, KL Rahul asked DC to bat first. The innings started well for the Delhi based team as Prithvi Shaw (61) straight away went after the bowlers and smashed them all around the park. The right-handed opener hit nine 4’s and two 6’s. On the other end, the story was completely different as the man making his comeback in the IPL and for Delhi Capitals, David Warner struggled to bat through and eventually got out to Ravi Bishnoi. In the end, captain Rishabh Pant (39) and Sarfaraz Khan (36) took Delhi to a respectable score of 149/3.

Chasing 150, both the openers started off well and comfortably as they put up 73 runs for the first wicket partnership. KL Rahul (24) departed after the powerplay but the foundation work was already done. The calculative chase was still on by Quinton de Kock (80) who was making the batting look quite easy compared to other batsmen as he smashed nine 4’s and two 6’s at the strike rate of 153.85. Unfortunately, the South African wicketkeeper-batsman got out to a brilliant leg break off Kuldeep Yadav on the last delivery of the 16th over. The loss of de Kock added some spice to the game as the new batsmen struggled to score any boundary. In the end, it was Ayush Badoni who smashed ten runs off just three balls to take LSG over the victory line. The youngster was cool minded and was in complete control of the shots he played while finishing.

Ravi Bishnoi was once again magical with the ball as he picked two wickets which included Warner. Along with him, Krishnappa Gowtham also managed to get a wicket. For DC, it was Kuldeep Yadav who scalped two wickets. Lalit Yadav and Shardul Thakur also managed to pick one wicket each.

Lucknow Super Giants won their third game of the season and now are second in the points table. Quinton de Kock was named Man of the Match for his outstanding display of batting.
