The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have roped in an association with the digital insurer, ACKO Insurance. In this agreement, ACKO has been announced as the official insurance partner for the upcoming season.
Both the entities announced this development on their respective social media handles. The Knight Riders posted a small video with a caption, that said, “KKR 🤝 @ackoinsurance
Let’s welcome our Official Insurance Partner for the season 💜💛.”
ACKO is a Bangalore-based company that was founded in 2016 by Varun Dua. It is a tech company that is focused on solving real-world issues for customers: starting with insurance. The startup raised $255 million last year in October in a funding round led by General Atlantic and Multiples Private Equity, valuing the company at $1.1 billion. ACKO also has commercial collaborations with Chennaiyin FC, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI).
Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, the two-time IPL winners retained Andre Russell (Rs 12 crore), Venkatesh Iyer (Rs 8 crore), Varun Chakravarthy (Rs 8 crore) and Sunil Narine (Rs 6 crore). In the auction, the Shahrukh Khan-owned franchise bought some renowned players like Shreyas Iyer, Pat Cummins, Nitish Rana, Alex Hales, Mohammad Nabi, Tim Southee and many more.
On the field, the Kolkata-based franchise fell short in the final frontier of the IPL 2021. The team will be aiming to go a step ahead this year to clinch its third IPL title with its new skipper, the right-handed top-order batsman, Iyer.
