In the 66th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Wednesday, May 18 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai at 7:30 PM IST.
Lucknow Super Giants had an incredible debut season and just need two more points to officially qualify for the playoffs. They have been looking for that one win for the past two games but couldn’t manage to cross the finish line. After failing to chase in their previous two matches, KL Rahul and the mentor, Gautam Gambhir will look into the team’s batting line-up. A lack of contribution with the bat from the team’s top-order hasn’t helped them while chasing. After 13 games, LSG won and lost, eight and five games respectively. After losing two consecutive games, LSG slipped to the third spot with 16 points.
On the other end, Kolkata Knight Riders are fighting their way to grab a spot in the top four of the table. The two-time champions have quite made a comeback after losing five matches in a row. The 2021 runners-up have won three games from their previous four fixtures. The Knight Riders will aim to carry the momentum in their final fixture of the league stage on Wednesday. The Kolkata franchise won and lost, six and seven games respectively. KKR have occupied the sixth position with 12 points.
LSG have the upper hand in the head-to-head competition as they beat KKR earlier this season by 75 runs.
