In the 51st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Mumbai Indians (MI) will lock horns with Gujarat Titans (GT) for the first time in the tournament on Friday, May 6 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai at 7:30 PM IST.
The most successful team of the IPL has been going through a terrible season so far. Mumbai Indians played nine matches out of which they lost eight and emerged victorious just once. The out of form top-order batsmen along with a lack of a death bowler has cost them multiple games in the ongoing edition. MI registered their first victory of the season against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their previous game. The saving grace of the team, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma guided the team over the finish line in the run chase. Carrying the momentum from the previous game, Rohit Sharma will look for one more victory on Friday. With just two points on the board, MI have acquired the last spot.
On the other hand, the former all-rounder of MI, Hardik Pandya and his team are having an incredible outing in the current edition of the tournament. The IPL debutants didn’t take much time to settle in the Indian marquee T20 league and went on to win eight out of 10 games till now. Gujarat Titans faced their second defeat of the season in their previous match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). GT will look into a few aspects of the team before they step on the field on Friday. The Gujarat-based team is atop the IPL leaderboard with 16 points.
