In the 62nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, the first team to qualify for the playoffs, Gujarat Titans (GT) will take on the struggling Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday, May 15 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai at 3:30 PM IST.
After becoming the first team to qualify for the playoffs, Gujarat Titans would like to conclude the league stage on a higher note before entering the knockout stage. The debutants had a tremendous outing in their first-ever IPL season so far. GT played 12 games till now, out of which they won nine and lost just thrice. The leg-spinner, Rashid Khan has been at the top of his prowess and has won matches with his all-round performance. The Gujarat franchise will count on their senior players to step up and perform in the upcoming crucial fixtures of the season. With 18 points, GT have acquired the top spot.
On the other end, Chennai Super Kings are having a complete opposite season to their Sunday opponent. The defending champions have found it difficult to cross the finish line. The newly appointed captain, Ravindra Jadeja didn’t find much success as a skipper in the first half due to which Mahendra Singh Dhoni was brought back as the skipper. The change in captaincy also didn’t bring any change to the team’s fortune. The defeat against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday has officially eliminated the four-time champions from the knockouts race. CSK have acquired the ninth position with eight points.
