IPL 2022 DC vs SRH: Warner fetches two points for Delhi Capitals in a crucial game

Following this win, Delhi Capitals are now in the fifth position with 10 points on the table.

In the 50th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 21 runs at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Kane Williamson won the toss yet again and asked DC to bat first. Delhi had a bad start as they lost their opener, Mandeep Singh, for a duck in the first over itself. David Warner (92*) continued his fantastic form once again as he smashed an unbeaten half-century. The southpaw played throughout the inning to take DC to a massive score. Playing at the strike rate of 158.62, the Aussie batter targeted every bowler from his former team and hammered them all around the park. He got a bit of partnership with Rishabh Pant (26) in the middle, but the DC captain couldn’t take his inning much forward in the inning. In the end, Rovman Powell (67*) delivered the much-needed cameo as he struck a half-century in quick succession. Both the batsman, Warner and Powell together added 122 runs for the fourth wicket partnership which took the Delhi based franchise to a humongous total of 207/3 in 20 overs.

In the chase, the opening batsmen struggled to get some runs upfront and in fact lost their wickets pretty early in the powerplay. Aiden Markram (42) seemed to be in great shape tonight as he tried his best in the middle to take the game as close as possible. Along with him, Nicholas Pooran (62) performed his very best under pressure. With too many runs to achieve, it was just next to impossible for SRH to chase this massive target. In the end, the Hyderabad based franchise only managed to reach 186/8 in 20 overs.

Khaleel Ahmed was at his best today with the ball as he grabbed three massive wickets at very crucial stages of the game. Shardul Thakur was a bit expensive but he too picked two wickets in his quota of four overs. Along with them, Anrich Nortje, Mitchell Marsh and Kuldeep Yadav also managed to get one wicket each.

For SRH, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sean Abbot and Shreyas Gopal scalped one wicket each in the first innings.

David Warner was adjudged Man of the Match for his powerful performance with the bat. Following this win, Delhi Capitals are now in the fifth position with 10 points on the table.

Scorecard:

Delhi Capitals: 207/3, Overs 20, David Warner 92*, Bhuvneshwar Kumar 1/25

Sunrisers Hyderabad: 186/8, Overs 20, Nicholas Pooran 62, Khaleel Ahmed 3/30
