IPL 2022 DC vs RR: Buttler’s century secures two points for Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals, with this victory, gets to 10 points and now are first in the points table.

In the 34th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Rajasthan Royals (RR) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 15 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

After winning the toss, Rishabh Pant asked RR to bat first. The decision worked in favour of the Jaipur based team as both the opening batsman hammered bowlers all around the park in the first innings. Jos Buttler (116) once again showed his class and smashed a century. With nine 4’s and nine 6’s, the Englishman got his third century of IPL 2022. Along with him, Devdutt Padikkal (54) also scored some heavy runs. The main aim was to support Buttler throughout the inning which was successful. In the process, even he played a valuable knock that too at a strike rate of 154.29. In the end, captain Sanju Samson‘s (46*) quickfire knock took RR to a mammoth score. With five 4’s and three 6’s in the death overs, Samson took RR to a total of 222/2 in 20 overs.

Chasing 223, Delhi Capitals got a rough start to their inning as in form David Warner (28) failed to score some big runs tonight. Captain Pant (44) also tried his best to get going but failed to capitalise. In the end, Rovman Powell (36) was the only hope for DC and he was delivering his best. DC needed 36 from the last over and the right-handed batsman hammered three out of the park but along with the sixes came controversy as well. The third six which arguably was over the waist wasn’t given as no-ball which made the DC captain create a scene with the fourth umpire. After all the drama, the short interval broke the batsman’s rhythm which made him fail to hit another six in the rest of the over. DC ended with 207/8 in their 20 overs.

Once again Rajasthan Royals successfully restricted the opponents, all credit to the five bowlers’ plan by RR. Prasidh Krishna scalped three wickets in his four overs. The youngster got wickets of Warner, Pant and Lalit Yadav which clearly helped RR to restrict the opponents. Yuzvendra Chahal and Obed McCoy got one wicket each. Ravichandran Ashwin also managed to get two. For DC, Mustafizur Rahman got a wicket and along with him Khaleel Ahmed also managed to get one. Shardul Thakur was the best bower for DC as he only gave 29 runs in three overs.

Jos Buttler was adjudged Man of the Match for his powerful performance with the bat. Rajasthan Royals, with this victory, gets to 10 points and now are first in the points table.
