IPL 2022 DC vs PBKS: David Warner powers Delhi Capitals to a powerful victory

With two points, DC now has six points from six games and will look to take this momentum forward in the season.

In the 32nd match of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by nine wickets at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

After winning the toss, Rishabh Pant asked PBKS to bat first. This decision worked in favour of the DC as the Punjab based team displayed one of the horrific performances with the bat. The innings started off a bit gently as both the openers, Shikhar Dhawan (9) and Mayank Agarwal (24) gave a decent start to PBKS. A good partnership of 33 runs was then followed by a series of wickets which led PBKS to the lowest total of IPL 2022. Contributions from Jitesh Sharma (32) and in the end from Rahul Chahar led Punjab to just 115/10 in 20 overs.

Chasing 116, Delhi Capitals got off to a brilliant start by both the openers. David Warner (60*) and Prithvi Shaw (41) were both in the mood to score some big runs at the Brabourne Stadium. The duo together put up 83 runs partnership for the first wicket before losing the Mumbai based batsman in the seventh over. The right-handed batsman hit seven 4’s and one 6 to give a massive boost to DC in the powerplay. Warner from the other one end kept on continuing the trashing of bowlers all around the park. The southpaw hammered ten 4’s and one 6 to chase this total down in just 10.3 overs.

In the bowling department, Khaleel Ahmed, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav picked two wickets each. Mustafizur also managed to get a wicket. For PBKS, it was just Rahul Chahar who got one wicket of Prithvi Shaw in the seventh over.

Kuldeep Yadav was adjudged Man of the Match for his excellent bowling performance. Despite some covid positive news in the DC camp, the on the field performance also turned out to be positive for the Delhi based team. With two points, DC now has six points from six games and will look to take this momentum forward in the season.
