In the 69th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Mumbai Indians (MI) will lock horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday, May 21 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai at 7:30 PM IST.
The five-time IPL champions, who were the first team to be eliminated from the ongoing season, ironically will play a big role in deciding the fourth qualifier for the playoffs. A victory on Saturday will help Mumbai Indians gain two points but alongside, will also book a berth for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the knockouts stage. The most successful team in the history of the competition has had an underwhelming season as the crucial members of the team didn’t fire at the right moment. The out of form top-order batsmen, along with bowlers conceding runs, didn’t allow them to win games. With six points, the Mumbai franchise has acquired the 10th spot.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals will play a do-or-die game on Saturday. A win will get them through to the playoffs and a defeat will end their season. At the moment, DC are looking like favourites to qualify for the playoffs because of a healthier net run rate and playing their final fixture against the struggling MI. The Delhi franchise is on a two-match winning streak and will like to carry the momentum in their upcoming important game. Mitchell Marsh contributing with the bat at the top order has been the biggest positive for the team in the last few games. The Delhi franchise has occupied the fifth position with 14 points.

MI have a slight advantage in the head-to-head competition. The two teams played against each other on 31 occasions, Mumbai won 16 games while Delhi emerged victorious on 15 instances.
In the last outing between the two teams, which took place earlier this season, DC won the game by four wickets.
