The inaugural champions are just one victory away from officially qualifying for the playoffs. Rajasthan Royals had an incredible season so far, with Jos Butler, Shimron Hetmyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal being in good form. The team has been consistent throughout the season and has worked well together as a unit. A victory on Friday will make them the third team to book a berth for themselves in the knockouts stage. The Rajasthan franchise played 13 games so far, out of which they won eight and lost five games. With 16 points, RR have acquired the third spot.
On the other end, Chennai Super Kings, who have been officially eliminated following their defeat against Mumbai Indians (MI) will play their final game of the season. Ravindra Jadeja, who was appointed as the new captain ahead of the season, couldn’t provide a successful run before he was replaced by Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the skipper. The change in captaincy also didn’t bring much change to their underwhelming season. CSK will aim to win their final league stage game and conclude the season on a higher note. After registering eight points, CSK have occupied the ninth position.
In the head-to-head competition between the two teams, CSK have the upper hand. The two teams faced off on 25 occasions, Chennai won 15 games while Rajasthan emerged victorious on 10 instances.
In their last outing, which took place in the previous season, RR won the game by seven wickets.
