Punjab Kings will head into their third fixture of the season on the back of a hammering they received at the hands of Andre Russell on Friday. Following a minimal effort with the bat, PBKS had to defend the below-par target of 138 at the Wankhede Stadium. The bowling unit just couldn’t stop the flow of runs following Russell’s arrival at the crease. With a star-studded batting line-up, PBKS lacks the steam in their bowling, which they will look to sort ahead of their clash with the defending champions.
On the other end, Chennai Super Kings had an underwhelming start to their title defence. The Ravindra Jadeja-led team, for the first time in its history, lost their first two games of the season. Even after setting up a massive target of 211 in the previous game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the CSK bowlers couldn’t defend that. The absence of Deepak Chahar and quality death bowlers could be fatal for the Chennai-based team.
CSK have the advantage in the head-to-head competition between the two teams. The two franchises locked horns on 25 occasions, Chennai won 15 games while Punjab emerged victorious on 10 instances.
In the last outing between the two teams, the Punjab-based team won the fixture by six wickets.
PBKS: Lotus Herbals, Jio, All Seasons Hand Rub and Dream11.
