In the seventh match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai at 7:30 PM IST on Thursday, March 31.
The Ravindra Jadeja-led Chennai Super Kings will head into this fixture on the back of a six-wicket defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the season opener. The top-order failed to score runs against the swing and spin in the first 10 overs which didn’t allow them to post a competitive total. The saving grace for the team was the legendary, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who remained calm and composed and took on the bowlers in the death overs. The experience of Dwayne Bravo came in handy to pick some wickets to make the chase interesting but even that couldn’t prevent the defeat. In the upcoming fixture, the defending champions will count on their experienced candidates to step-up once again and gain those two important points.
On the other end, the KL Rahul-helmed Lucknow Super Giants lost their debut IPL game against the fellow entrant, Gujarat Giants (GT). The LSG batsmen also struggled at Wankhede in the powerplay against the swing. Courtesy of Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni, the Lucknow-based team put up a fighting total. While defending the target, Lucknow did manage to keep the bowling tight but couldn’t manage to condense the counter-attack of David Miller, Rahul Tewatia and Abhinav Manohar in the death overs. Lucknow will look to settle their top-order batting lineup along with death bowling options before they face the four-time IPL winners.
