IPL 2021: Shikhar Dhawan pleased with Prithvi Shaw’s strong comeback

Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Shikhar Dhawan is pleased for his Delhi Capitals opening partner Prithvi Shaw for getting the rewards of his hard work. Shaw smashed 72 runs off 38 balls to help DC to win the first IPL 2021 game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday.

After a string of poor scores, Shaw was dropped from the Indian test team during the tour of Australia. Shaw returned to domestic cricket and worked on his technical flaws  Then 21-year-old  was rewarded for his efforts as he scored record 827 runs in Vijay Hazare Trophy, which included one double century.

Along with Shaw, Dhawan scored 85 runs off 52 balls against CSK. The duo added more than 100 runs for the first wicket to give an ideal platform for DC to chase down a score in excess of 180. Both of them mauled CSK bowlers across the park to give DC an ideal start to IPL 2021.

Similar to Shaw, Dhawan has also responded brilliantly after he was dropped from starting XI during the last four T-20 games against England in March. He scored runs consistently during the ODI series. A strong start to IPL 2021 is showing that he is back to his best. He will need a good IPL campaign to remain in contention for Indian T-20 squad for World Cup later this year.

DC can get over the final hurdle if Shaw and Dhawan keep scoring consistently

Shaw and Dhawan are match-winner on their day. With the absence of Shreyas Iyer in the team due to injury, the duo will have the responsibility of scoring more runs at the top of the order. If both of them manage to keep up their good form for the majority of IPL 2021, then Delhi Capitals could finally break the duck and lift the trophy.
