IPL 2021 Phase 2: Three Players who could be crucial for Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals will play Punjab Kings on 21st September in their first game of the second phase of the tournament.

Rajasthan Royals, who currently stands in fifth place in the IPL table with six points in seven games do evidently have some match-winners among them.

Phase 2 of IPL 2021 is right around the corner and is scheduled to start from 19th September in the UAE. Let’s have a look at three players who will be the key in propelling the Royals to the knockout stages of the competition:

1. Sanju Samson

The 26-year-old captain Sanju Samson will be one of the key figures in the team to take them to the knockout stages of IPL 2021. Samson has been one of the most consistent players for Rajasthan Royals in the most recent editions.

Samson has played 114 matches for the Royals and has scored 2861 runs with three centuries and 13 half-centuries. The Royals will be heavily dependent on Samson’s performances if they want to grab their second IPL title.

2. Chris Morris

Another player Rajasthan Royals will be counting on will be Chris Morris, who was bought for a whopping sum of 16.25 crores in the 2021 auction. He was highly effective in the first phase of the edition. Morris has played seven matches for the Royals in 2021 and has scored 48 runs with 14 wickets to his name.

Morris will be key for the Royals in phase 2 of IPL 2021, who will help them stay in contention for the knockout stages.

3. Evin Lewis

Evin Lewis could be one of the players who will pave way for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL playoffs. The batsman was brought in as a replacement for Jos Buttler who will not be playing phase 2 of IPL 2021 due to the birth of his second child.

Despite not getting many chances with Mumbai Indians in 2018 and 2019, Evin Lewis has played 16 matches and has scored 430 runs while playing for Mumbai Indians.

Lewis has 1318 runs in 45 T20I matches for West Indies along with two centuries and nine half-centuries. The southpaw’s explosive batting will provide a much-needed boost to Royal’s top order.
