IPL 2021 Phase 2: Three players who could be crucial for Delhi Capitals

The table topper Delhi Capitals will play Sunrisers Hyderabad on 22nd September in their first fixture of phase 2.

Delhi Capitals, who currently lead the IPL 2021 points table with 12 points in eight games performed spectacularly in phase 1 of the competition with a star-studded squad. In the absence of Shreyas Iyer, who led DC to the finals in IPL 2020, the new skipper Rishab Pant did an amazing job in captaining the side.

With phase 2 of IPL right around the corner, here are three players who could play a crucial role in guiding the Delhi-based IPL franchise to its maiden title:

1. Rishab Pant

The formidable skipper of the team, Rishab Pant will have to be on the top of his game if Delhi Capitals aims to win the title this season. With 2292 runs in 76 matches and a strike rate of 149.8, Pant will be one of the key players for the Delhi Capitals in helping the team to maintain their fabulous form.

Pant’s counter-attacking batting and the ability to turn a match around single-handedly will surely be the X-factor for DC in the second phase of the tournament.

2. Marcus Stoinis

The Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis will be one of the important players for the Delhi Capitals, with 896 runs and 30 wickets in 54 matches to his name. His all-round ability on the field makes him the defining player for DC in phase 2 of IPL.

His adaptability will be of the utmost importance in phase 2. The all-rounder’s ability to bat in the lower-middle order and also in the top order will be a dynamic offering to the team.

3. Kagiso Rabada

One of the best bowlers in international cricket, Kagiso Rabada has been the leading bowler for Delhi Capitals, with 69 wickets in 42 games in his IPL career. Rabada has been a consistent player for DC in the past couple of years.

His performance will be a deciding factor for the team in phase 2 of the competition. The pacer’s ability to give an early breakthrough in the powerplay and restricting batsmen from scoring runs in the death overs is commendable.
