IPL 2021 Phase 2: Teams getting concerned over situation in England

Phase 2 of IPL 2021 will start on September 19.

Covid-19 has once again put the conduct of IPL 2021 in trouble, the phase 2 of the competition is set to begin from September 19 in the UAE.

The cause of concern this time around is the Indian team playing the Test series in England. Four captains of the IPL teams are with the Indian team at the moment in England and even one positive case of Covid-19 could jeopardize the conduct of IPL.

One of the franchise officials said, “The situation is very alarming. Even 1 positive case in the Indian team now will jeopardize IPL. All of these players are together, they have to arrive in UAE in one chartered flight. All of them are top players and must for each franchise. God forbid, if one gets positively affected, the entire IPL can be in trouble.”

IPL franchises have been in the UAE for over three weeks now and have even made their own bio-bubbles. The overseas and the Indian players in England are scheduled to join these bio-bubbles as soon as the Test series concludes.

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma, Delhi Capitals captain Rishab Pant and Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul along with 20 other Indian players, who are in England will be joining their respective IPL teams after the series.

If any player tests positive for Covid-19, the entire team could get infected and it would put the occurrence of IPL 2021 in danger once again.

All of these players will be closely watched and will be tested before they can join their respective IPL teams.
