Kolkata Knight Riders have won three of their four matches ever since the recommencement of phase 2 of IPL 2021. Their only defeat came against the table-toppers Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. They have acquired fourth place in the IPL standings with ten points in 11 games. The performances of Venkatesh Iyer, Rahul Tripathi, and Shubman Gill have been a crucial factor in KKR’s quest of qualifying for the playoffs.
Punjab Kings have emerged victorious only once in their three matches in phase 2 of IPL 2021. Their sole victory came against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday. They will be heading into this game on the back of a defeat against Mumbai Indians earlier this week. Ravi Bishnoi and Aiden Markram have been consistent so far for the Punjab-based franchise. They have acquired the sixth position in the IPL standings with eight points in 11 games.
Both the teams have faced each other on 28 occasions where KKR won the tie 19 times while PBKS has won the fixture nine times.
The last time PBKS and KKR faced each other was back in phase 1 of the competition, where the latter won the game by five wickets.
