Mumbai Indians has announced a sponsorship deal with Digital payment app PhonePe. As part of this deal, PhonePe will be the payments partner of defending Champions. PhonePe is one of the leading E-wallet and payment platforms used in India.
Ever since going live in 2016, PhonePe has been one of the most popular digital payment platforms in the world. Considering the enormous brand value of Mumbai Indians, this could be a remarkably effective partnership for PhonePe. Moreover, featuring in IPL also gives them much better exposure.
Commenting on the announcement, Sameer Nigam, Founder & CEO, PhonePe said, “We are kicking off our most aggressive national marketing campaign ever, starting with IPL 2021 next month. We have invested even more heavily on IPL this year, taking up 6 different sponsorships. As the category leader, it is our vision as well as our ambition to bring digital payments to every Indian household. Our aggressive marketing efforts are in line with this strategic priority.”
PhonePe joins hands with Star Sports and other IPL teams
Along with signing a deal with Mumbai Indians, PhonePe is also going to work three more teams in the IPL 2021. Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals are other teams that will be working with PhonePe this season.
PhonePe is not the only brand that is working with numerous teams this season. BKT Tires and MX TakaTak have signed deals with seven IPL teams, while Reliance Jio also works with all teams every season.Myntra is working as the principal sponsor for Chennai Super Kings, while it serves as an official fashion partner for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Apart from signing deals with teams, PhonePe has also signed a deal with Star India that will make it the co-presenting sponsor of the live broadcast of all games in IPL 2021. The digital payments application’s IPL campaign will be seen on numerous stages on television and digital platforms. Working on different fronts in the most followed T-20 league in the world is going to boost the brand value of PhonePe.
