Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Prasidh Krishna has admitted that he has got a major boost in confidence and he is looking forward to carrying it in the IPL. While talking to KKR’s official website, Krishna admitted that confidence boost comes from making his national debut last month for the three-match ODI series against England. He also went on to take four wickets in his debut match, registering an otherwise improbable win for the Indian team.
“But in hindsight, it’s been a great experience to have made my debut for India. It’s a dream come true for any cricketer. In terms of the praise, I have been getting, it only adds to my confidence levels and I look forward to taking it ahead from here.”
The 25-year-old pacer also talked about how there was a pressure situation at the beginning of the match where he made his debut. He added that Virat and other seniors told him to always be on the front foot, and it worked well. India eventually made a comeback from a precarious position to clinch victory against England.
Sunil Gavaskar Bats For Prasidh Krishna’s Inclusion In Test Team
Legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar also reckons that Team India’s newest pace sensation Prasidh Krishna can be a very good red-ball bowler looking at his pace and seam-up position.
“I tell you what, with those seam-up deliveries, he is someone that the Indian selection committee must consider seriously for the red ball (Tests) as well,” Gavaskar said during his commentary stint for host broadcaster Star Sports.
Krishna has so far played 24 matches in the IPL, managing to take 18 wickets at an economy rate of 9.33. He is aware that his economy should decrease while going forward. It is an area where the pacer is looking to improve. Krishna will need a good IPL 2021 to be in contention for the upcoming T-20 World Cup in India.
Last year, KKR failed to qualify for the playoffs as the side finished fifth in the points table, this year though they have started with a win. Hoping to keep the winning streak alive, they play their next match against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday. KKR won their opening match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, while Mumbai Indians suffered a narrow defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
