IPL 2021: KKR hires Nathan Leamon as Strategic Consultant

IPL’s two-time winning champion Kolkata Knight Riders have appointed English National Men’s side’s White-Ball Analyst, Nathan Leamon, as franchise’s new Strategic Consultant for the 14th edition of the tournament.

Nathan Leamon has a decade worth of experience of working in cricket. He has been working with PSL’s franchise Multan Sultan as Director of Strategy. Leamon will be involved with KKR’s auction planning alongside KKR’s current performance analyst AR Srikkanth.

KKR’s new Strategic Consultant has been involved in the English setup since 2009, the very same year when Eoin Morgan came into England’s National team. Over the years, Nathan and the English white-ball skipper has shared a strong bond.

Morgan publicly defended Nathan Leamon and his invention – Live Informational Resource during the recently concluded white ball series against South Africa. The English side trialed a system of coded signals from the dressing room to the pitch during their T20I series in South Africa, which eventually got approval from the match referee and anti-corruption officials.

IPL’s player auction is set to go ahead on February 18 in Chennai. The Knight Riders have eight slots available and they have retained a set of 17 players. The IPL auctions will be Nathan Leamon’s first big office assignment as his side has the smallest purse of Rs 10.75 crores.

Last year, the franchise finished in the fifth position with seven wins and the same number of losses. The 2020 season was one dramatic year for the franchise. The inner dispute of the franchise was disclosed publically when they replaced Dinesh Karthik with Morgan midway through the campaign.
