IPL 2021: Kiwi trio joins Mumbai Indians camp

Mumbai Indians’ Kiwi trio of Trent Boult, Adam Milne, and Jimmy Neesham have arrived in Chennai ahead of IPL 2021 opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore.  The trio landed in Chennai to join the rest of the squad. The entire Mumbai Indians squad travelled to Chennai this week.

All three New Zealand internationals will have to undergo a week-long mandatory quarantine before joining the rest of the team. Apart from Quinton de Kock, every member of MI’s squad has now reached Chennai. The South African wicketkeeper will join after playing the ODI series against Pakistan. The five-time champions will face a very resolute RCB side lead by Virat Kohli. The Indian captain also arrived in Chennai to join the RCB squad on Thursday.

Mumbai Indians has one of the most balanced squads in the tournament. Both the batting and bowling departments some big names. During IPL 2021 auction, Mumbai added good players to improve the squad depth. Out of the Rs. 15.35 crore Mumbai Indians used 11.70 crores of their available budget.

Adam Milne was bought for Rs 3.2 crores to replace James Pattinson in the squad. Meanwhile, Nathan Coulter-Nile was bought back for Rs 5 crores, three crores less than what MI was paying him last season. Jimmy Neesham was a late pick by Mumbai for the base price of Rs 50 lakhs. Piyush Chawla was another expensive buy made by MI. The spinner was bought for Rs 2.4 crores.

Aakash Chopra heaps praise on Rohit Sharma’s captaincy

Former Indian batsman Aakash Chopra has hailed Rohit Sharma’s captaincy at Mumbai Indians. Chopra believes Sharma’s reading of the game is immaculate, making him an astute leader of the team.

Ever since joining MI, Sharma has won five IPL titles. Four of these titles have come under his captaincy. He will be looking to make history in IPL by becoming the first captain to win three in a row. Considering the composition of MI’s squad, they are very well set to enjoy another successful season.
