IPL 2021 Final CSK vs KKR: Preview, head-to-head, and sponsors

The two teams have also played against each other in the IPL 2012 final.

In the IPL 2021 final, Chennai Super Kings will be playing Kolkata Knight Riders at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai at 7:30 PM IST on Friday. Both teams have won the coveted IPL title multiple times and will be aiming to add one more into their trophy cabinets.

Chennai Super Kings will be heading into this fixture on the back of an emphatic Mahendra Singh Dhoni finish against Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 1 on Sunday. The three-time IPL champions became the first team to qualify for the finals of IPL 2021 after having a disastrous last season. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis have been a robust opening pair with providing a solid start in the powerplay. Ravindra Jadeja has been one of the most consistent players for CSK in the ongoing season. Jadeja’s all-round performance in the field has won several matches for the Chennai-based franchise. With MSD reclaiming its finishing touch, CSK seems formidable ahead of the final frontier of the season.

On the other end, Kolkata Knight Riders have registered a terrific turnaround after an underwhelming phase 1. The inclusion of Venkatesh Iyer has solidified KKR’s top-order batting line-up. The spin duo of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy have been the MVP for the Knight Riders in the second phase. The Kolkata-based franchise qualified for the final after beating Delhi Capitals in Qualifier 2 in a nail-biting finish. Kolkata have been ruthless in phase 2, the skipper Eoin Morgan would count on his in-form players to step up on the big occasion and clinch the third title for the team.

Head-to-Head:
Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders have faced each other on 25 occasions. CSK won 16 games while KKR clinched eight fixtures.

In their previous encounter, CSK beat KKR by two wickets in a last-ball thriller. The two teams have also played against each other in the IPL 2012 final.

Team News:
Chennai Super Kings: CSK will be heading into this fixture with zero casualties.

Kolkata Knight Riders: KKR is likely to miss the services of Andre Russell due to injury.
