With just over a week to go for IPL 2021, teams have started confirming new sponsors and kits for the campaign. Rajasthan Royals (RR) has been busy signing off crucial deals in the last few weeks. Sources have told Sportsmint that RR has filled all sponsorship slots for IPL 2021 by clinching the trouser deal with Goel Group.
As part of this agreement, Goel Group is likely to be visible on the trousers of Rajasthan’s kit this season. Goel Group involves an array of industries, from steel manufacturing to power generation. With the deal with Rajasthan Royals, Goel Group will be getting visibility in the biggest T-20 league.
Rajasthan Royals refused to comment on the latest development regarding the deal with Goel Group, but they did confirm that deal is closed for this slot.
Rajasthan has undergone numerous changes in personnel for IPL 2021. Kumar Sangakkara was appointed as director of cricket, while Andrew McDonald is no longer the head coach of the team. The franchise also decided to part ways with Steve Smith and appoint Sanju Samson as the captain for the new season. In the auction, RR flexed their spending power by making Chris Morris the most expensive player in the IPL history. The South African all-rounder was bought for a whopping Rs 16.25 crores in February.
Rajasthan Royals still waiting for concrete news on Jofra Archer
RR is currently sweating over the availability of lead pacer Jofra Archer. The English bowler had surgery on his right hand this week. Archer is going to remove the cast from his hand after two weeks. Archer had to opt against participating in the ODI series against India due to hand injury. The chances of Archer playing in the latter stages of the tournament hangs in balance.
After finishing last in the table last season, RR will be hoping to qualify for playoffs in IPL 2021. They will begin the campaign against Punjab Kings on April 12 in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
