IPL 2021: Dhawan admits chasing easier at Wankhede Stadium

After his matching winning innings of 92 runs against Punjab Kings in IPL 2021 at the Wankhede Stadium, Delhi Capitals opener Shikhar Dhawan said that chasing is a lot easier at Wankhede because of dew.

Dhawan came up with a big innings to help Delhi Capitals win their second match of IPL 2021 in a big run chase against Punjab Kings on Sunday. He scored 92 runs off 49 deliveries to chase the target of 196 inside 19 overs with six overs to spare.

“The bounce is true at the Wankhede surface and the ball comes onto the bat. Especially in the second innings, it becomes a lot easier to bat because of the dew. For my batting style, I enjoy using pace on the ball, and against the spinners, the ball is not turning so I can hit my shots”, Dhawan told spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in a video posted on the official website of the IPL.

Mayank Agrawal’s (69) and KL Rahul’s (61) sensational knocks and a final over cameo by Shahrukh Khan (15) helped Punjab Kings to put an impressive 195 for four wickets. In response, Delhi started the chase brilliantly Prithvi Shaw hit several boundaries in powerplay over but he was eventually dismissed for 32 runs in the sixth over.
