IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals crosses 65cr in Sponsorship Revenue

With the IPL season back, it is an ideal time for Brands to promote and advertise themselves. A tournament with such a wide viewership, makes branding and building customer loyalty an easier task.

Last week Sportsmint had reported how Delhi Capitals had posted record numbers in their sponsorship revenue. At present, the JSW GMR Cricket-owned franchise has touched INR 65 crore in sponsorship revenue, which is almost a 50% growth over the previous IPL season. Delhi has signed a total of 25 sponsors, that is 10 more partners than they had last year.

The Official Partners include MX TakaTak, PhonePe, Kingfisher, Usha, ACKO Insurance, Cadbury Dairy Milk, Colgate, Kotak, Dream11, BKT, PT Men of Platinum, Wrogn Active, LG, Nissin, Maxirich, Optimum Nutrition, Amul Kool, Boat, Performax, ESA (Reliance), DNA Networks, Radio City, and Fever FM.

In addition, the franchise has signed Samsung and DHL as Principal Partners while Marriott Bonvoy, Jio, and Astral Pipes are the Associate Partners. It has also roped in new entrants like Cornitos, Evolut and OctaFX.

Vinod Bisht, interim CEO for DC told exchange4media.com “This has been the best year ever for Delhi Capitals in terms of sponsorship revenues. We have touched Rs 65 crore on the back of the solid performance and resurgence of the team.”

Delhi’s stupendous performance last season has contributed to the franchise onboarding multiple sponsors this year. The franchise has also secured valuable licensing associations across apparel, fanwear, credit cards and audio products, driving greater fan engagement and penetration to its pan India fanbase.

Last year all teams saw a dip in their revenues however Delhi Capitals kept their losses controlled  by maximizing the potential of their digital content and social media.

The interactive base of social media platforms worked in their favour which is visible in the team’s upward trajectory. It is evident by the record 450 million views garnered on its video content in 2020. Last year, the franchise also witnessed a follower growth of 32% on Facebook and Instagram, the highest among all teams.

Delhi is set to play Rajasthan Royals, on 15th April and will be looking forward to continuing their winning streak while on Rajasthan on the other hand will be looking forward to turning their losses around after losing the match against PBKS by just 4 runs yesterday.
