The ICC has confirmed that India will play Pakistan in the opening match of Group 2 of the Super 12 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on October 24 in Dubai at 6 PM local time. The tournament will begin a week before the big game, with the hosts Oman taking on Papua New Guinea in Round 1 of Group B. Scotland and Bangladesh, the other two teams in the group will play each other later in the evening
India and Pakistan didn’t play against each other since the 2019 World Cup fixture.
The Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Ireland, and Namibia are in Group A while Bangladesh, Scotland, PNG, and Oman are in Group B of the tournament. The first round of the tournament will be played in Oman, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. The second round will take place in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai, the three venues in the United Arab Emirates.
In Abu Dhabi, Australia will take on South Africa, while England will take on the West Indies in Dubai. Another big-ticket matchup in this round is the England vs Australia fixture, which will take place on October 30 in Dubai. South Africa, England, Australia, West Indies, and two qualifiers from the first round will end up in Group 1 in the Super 12s. Group 2 includes India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, and two qualifiers.
