India vs West Indies 3rd T20I: Match preview and head-to-head

In the head-to-head competition between the two teams, the Indian team is the dominant side.

In the West Indies tour of India, the third and final T20I of the series will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday, February 20 at 7:00 PM IST. The home team has acquired a lead of 2-0 and also registered its first T20I bilateral series victory of 2022.

India will be entering this fixture after beating the Windies in the second T20I by eight runs in a thrilling finish on Friday. The hosts will be playing without Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant in the final T20I as the two players have been given a break by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from the bio-bubble. The biggest takeaway from this series for the Indian team has been the vital contributions from the middle-order batsmen. In the first fixture, Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer guided India over the finish line. In the second match, the number five batsman Pant along with the in-form Iyer smashed over 70 runs in the last six overs and set up a competitive total. With a robust batting line-up along with a cunning bowling unit, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team will look forward to whitewashing the Windies 3-0.

The Kieron Pollard-helmed West Indies haven’t been able to counter the Indians in their backyard. The Windies are still searching for their first victory on this Indian tour. Contributions from Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell in the previous game showcased their potential with the bat. Roston Chase has been the Caribbean team’s star with the ball, the spinner has managed to fox the Indian top-order batsman on several occasions. Pollard will count on his in-form players to win the final fixture to avoid a whitewash.

Head-to-head:

In the head-to-head competition between the two teams, the Indian team is the dominant side. Both teams have played 19 games so far out of which the Men in Blue won 12 games while West Indies emerged victorious on six instances.
