India vs West Indies 2nd ODI: Match preview and head-to-head

The visitors will aim to make a comeback in the second ODI to keep the series alive.

In the West Indies tour of India, the second ODI of the three-match series will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, February 8 at 1:30 PM IST. The hosts currently lead the ODI bilateral series 1-0.

The Indian team will be heading into this game on the back of an emphatic six-wicket victory in the first ODI. Clinical performances from Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav helped the hosts to cross the finish line comfortably. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team is likely to go unchanged for the second match. The positives from the game were the sensible and composed contribution from the middle-order. India lost four wickets in quick succession, a crucial partnership between Yadav and debutant Deepak Hooda ensured an easy victory.

On the other hand, West Indies will enter the second match after a dismal performance with the bat. The top-order collapsed without contributing much to the scoreboard. Jason Holder’s gritty half-century saved the Windies from getting all-out to a humiliating score. The silver lining for the Kieron Pollard-led team was their bowling unit. After receiving a thrashing from the Indian skipper in the powerplay, the Windies bowler managed to turn the tide a little bit as Alzarri Joseph got rid of Rohit and Virat Kohli in the same over. The visitors will aim to make a comeback in the second ODI to keep the series alive.

Head-to-Head:

In the head-to-head competition between the two teams, India has the upper hand. The two teams played 134 matches so far out of which India won 65 games while the Windies ended on the winning side on 63 instances.
