India vs West Indies 2nd ODI: India gain an unassailable lead

Krishna was adjudged Man of the Match for his spectacular bowling performance.

In the West Indies tour of India, the hosts beat the visitors in the second ODI by 44 runs to clinch the series 2-0. Commendable performances from Prasidh Krishna, Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul guided India over the finish line.

India lost the toss and was asked to bat. Rohit Sharma opened the innings with Rishabh Pant. The home team lost its top three batsmen even before the scoreboard reached the 50-run mark. KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav fought their way through the middle overs and stitched a 91-run partnership. The threatening partnership was broken when Rahul fell short of his crease during a mishap while running between the wickets. The gritty partnership of Rahul and Yadav had put India into a respectable position. Healthy contributions from the lower-order batsmen, Washington Sundar, Deepak Hooda and Yuzvendra Chahal put India in a position to defend their total.

The Indian unit was formidable with the ball. The hosts pocketed five wickets before the Windies could even reach the three-figure mark. The Indian captain used six bowlers and all of them managed to grab at least one wicket. By taking wickets at regular intervals, the hosts wrapped up Windies for 193 and obtained a 44-run victory.

Shamarh Brooks, Akeal Hosein and Odean Smith contributed with the bat in the run chase but their effort wasn’t enough to stay alive in the bilateral series.

Krishna was the pick among the bowlers for India as he grabbed four wickets. Hooda, Sundar, Chahal and Mohammed Siraj pocketed one wicket each. Shardul Thakur had two wickets to his name.

On the other hand, Alzarri Joseph and Odean Smith had two dismissals each. Fabian Allen, Hosein, Jason Holder and Roach got one scalp each.

India won the ODI bilateral series after winning the first two games. Krishna was adjudged Man of the Match for his spectacular bowling figures of 4 for 12.

West Indies: 193/10, Overs: 46, Shamarh Brooks 44, Prasidh Krishna 4/9
