In the India tour of West Indies 2022, the third T20I of the five-match series will take place at Warner Park, St Kitts on Tuesday, August 2 at 9:30 PM IST. The series is currently levelled at 1-1.
The Indians finally tasted defeat on this ongoing tour. The game that was followed by the delay in receiving luggage didn’t pan out well for the tourists. The pitch with uneven bounce and winning ratio inclined towards teams batting second, India lost the toss and were put to bat. India’s batting collapsed following Rohit Sharma‘s golden duck but still managed to set up a target of 139. The Men in Blue held the game till the final over, with 10 to defend in the last six balls, Avesh Khan succumbed to the pressure and bowled a no-ball which shifted the game into the home team’s favour. The silver lining in the game was the bowling unit. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya were economical in the second inning.
A sigh of relief for the new Windies skipper, Nicholas Pooran, who faced four consecutive losses in the ongoing series. The Indian openers had no answer to the wrath of tall Obed McCoy on a pitch with uneven bounce. Later in the inning, the left-handed pacer ran through India’s tail to bundle them out for just below 140. Brandon King and Devon Thomas shone in the run chase where the rest of the batters couldn’t contribute significantly with the bat. The West Indies camp will hope for a similar result in today’s game to acquire a lead of 2-1.
India have the upper hand in the head-to-head competition between the two teams. Both units have squared off on 22 instances in T20Is. The Men in Blue won 14 games while the Windies emerged victorious seven times.
The last outing in the T20 format took place on Monday, West Indies won the game by five wickets.
