India vs West Indies 2022 2nd T20I: Obed McCoy powers West Indies to level series 1-1

With this win, West Indies have leveled up the 5 match T20I series 1-1.

In the second T20I match of India tour of West Indies 2022, West Indies defeated India by five wickets at the Warner Park in St.Kitts.

West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran won the toss and elected to bowl first. The decision worked out well for the home team as they bowled out India for just 138 runs. Obed McCoy was at his miraculous best as he plucked a fifer in the first innings which helped WI to chase a low total in the second.

While chasing, opener Brandon King (61) smashed an outstanding fifty which gave WI a powerful start. The right handed batsman struck eight fours and two sixes in his inning. Given that there were not much runs to chase, this one huge innings from the 27 year old was enough to seal the game. However, it’s not done until it is actually done. West Indies had to pull out victory in the final over which happened courtesy Devon Thomas (31*) who hammered quick fire runs in the end to take West Indies over the victory line.

No one stood up for the Men in Blue in the first innings which caused a major upset. Rishabh Pant (24), Hardik Pandya (31) and Ravindra Jadeja (27) were the only batters with significant contributions. India only managed to get 138 runs and while doing so they lost all their wickets.

The left arm fast medium bowler Obed McCoy picked six wickets and just gave 17 runs in his quota of four overs. This totally bought the momentum towards the Windies in the 2nd T20I. Jason Holder also got two wickets and along with him, Alzarri Joseph and Akeal Hosein managed to claim one each.

For India, Arshdeep Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Pandya and Avesh Khan, all picked one wicket each in the second innings.

Obed McCoy was adjudged Man of the Match for his outstanding bowling show. With this win, West Indies have leveled up the 5 match T20I series 1-1.
