In the India tour of West Indies 2022, the first ODI of the three-match series will take place on Friday, July 22 at the Port of Spain in Trinidad at 7 PM IST.
After securing the ODI series in the thrilling decider game against England in England, the Indians will head into the first game of the West Indies tour full of confidence. The Indian team will be helmed by Shikhar Dhawan, with Ravindra Jadeja as his deputy in the ODI bilateral series. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant have been rested. Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Prasidh Krishna, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Avesh Khan are the youngsters included in the series, who would look to cement their spot in the format.
On the other hand, the new Windies limited overs skipper, Nicholas Pooran had an unsteady commencement to his captaincy stint. Earlier this month, West Indies beat Bangladesh 2-0 in a three-match T20I series but faced a humiliating defeat 3-0 in the 50-over format. Along with the experience of Pooran, Jason Holder, Keemo Paul and Shai Hope, the home team will look to make a formidable comeback in ODIs.

In the head-to-head competition between the two teams, India have the upper hand. The two teams collided on 136 occasions, the tourists won 67 fixtures while the hosts emerged victorious on 63 instances.
In the last outing, which took place earlier this year in India, the Men in Blue won the ODI and T20I bilateral series with a clean sweep.
India toured West Indies in 2019, and the visitors won the three-match ODI series 2-0.
