In the 3rd ODI of the India tour of South Africa, the hosts beat the visitors by four runs. The Proteas whitewash the Indian side 3-0 in the bilateral ODI series.
South Africa lost the toss and was asked to bat by India. The home team lost their three wickets within the first 12 overs. The in-form Quinton De Kock (124) and Rassie van der Dussen (52) took the matter in hands and stitched a crucial partnership of 144 runs for the fourth wicket in the middle overs. The partnership was broken by Jasprit Bumrah in the 36th over when De Kock departed after scoring a scintillating century. In the following over, Dussen was also dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal. The conclusion of the important partnership broke the Proteas’ momentum. Some handy runs from David Miller and Dwaine Pretorius guided the hosts to a competitive total of 287.
The Temba Bavuma-led South African team was highly disciplined with the ball as they managed to break partnerships and secure the third ODI. Lungi Ngidi and Andile Phehlukwayo had three wickets each while Sisanda Magala and Keshav Maharaj pocketed one wicket each. Pretorius had one scalp to his name.
On the other hand, for the Indian team, Prasidh Krishna took three wickets while Bumrah and Chahar had three wickets each. Chahal had one dismissal in his nine overs.
De Kock was adjudged Man of the Match for his 124 off 130 balls with 12 boundaries and two sixes.
