India vs South Africa 3rd ODI: Match preview and head-to-head

In the head-to-head competition between the two teams in the ODI format, South Africa has the upper hand.

In the India tour of South Africa, the third ODI will be played at the Newlands in Cape Town on Sunday, January 23 at 2 PM IST. The Proteas have clinched the series by winning the first two games of the three-match ODI series.

South Africa will be heading into this fixture of the back of consecutive match-winning performances. The hosts have been highly disciplined in the batting and bowling departments. The bowling unit has managed to restrict Indians from scoring runs while the top-order batting line-up is making some serious contributions. Temba Bavuma is likely to go with the same playing XI but might give some players a chance who has been benched in the first two matches. The hosts will aim to conclude the series with a 3-0 whitewash.

On the other hand, the Indian team will enter this fixture after losing the Test series and ODI series. The stand-in captain, KL Rahul will aim to avoid a whitewash in the ODI series on Sunday. Along with him, the likes of Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur did some vital contribution in the middle overs but the bowlers failed to defend the title. India’s bowling unit didn’t manage to create any difficulty for the Proteas batting department on a slow pitch in the previous game. Rahul would look forward to ending the series on a higher note with a comprehensive victory in the third ODI.
