The first ODI match of the South Africa tour of India 2025 is all set to be held tomorrow, November 30, at 1:30 PM, at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.
India will look to recover from a 2-0 home Test loss as they start their ODI series against South Africa. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are in the limelight as they return for a brief but significant ODI spell that might influence India’s long-term intentions up to the 2027 World Cup. The two senior players, who are now only playing in the 50-over format, have six ODIs in the next two months, thus each match is important. For the opening match, India will be missing Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer, which will offer KL Rahul and coach Gautam Gambhir with both new problems and opportunities. With additions like Tilak Varma, Harshit Rana, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Prasidh Krishna, and Arshdeep Singh bringing fresh energy to the lineup, the ODI team differs from the Test group in a number of ways and for sure, the side will look to have a successful outing.
After defeating Pakistan 2-1 on the road and challenging England in a tough tour, South Africa appear to be in better condition going into the ODI series. SA are heading into the series without Kagiso Rabada and thus Gerald Coetzee and Nandre Burger will have a lot on their shoulders to tackle. Meanwhile, Keshav Maharaj leads the spin department. The Proteas will rely on new players like Rubin Hermann, Tony de Zorzi, and Dewald Brevis, bolstered by the versatility of Corbin Bosch and Prenelan Subrayen. South Africa remain a formidable white-ball team going into the first match, as they are confident and well-balanced.
Head-to-Head:
India and South Africa have played each other 94 times in ODIs. South Africa lead the competition with 51 victories, while India have 40 wins. There were also three NRs.
