India vs New Zealand 3rd T20I: Shubman Gill’s fearless ton provides India series win

Following this win, team India have claimed the three-match T20I series by 2-1.

In the 3rd T20I match of the New Zealand tour of India 2023, India defeated New Zealand by 168 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Indian skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bat first. The decision turned out to be right as the team posted a massive score of 234/4 in 20 overs. Youngster Shubman Gill (126*) hammered a humongous hundred and showcased the world that he can bat with an impressive strike rate as well. The right handed opening batter smashed 12 fours and seven sixes in his inning at strike rate of 200. Along with Gill, Rahul Tripathi (44) also scored at strike rate of 200 towards the end which helped India to get a powerful score.

None of the Kiwi batter could score enough runs to keep the game alive. Only batter to score runs was Daryl Mitchell (35). The right-handed batter was the lone warrior in the chase but eventually failed to take NZ home. Only other batter to get in double digit was captain Mitchell Santner (13).

For NZ, one wicket each was taken by Michael Bracewell, Blair Tickner, Ish Sodhi and Daryl Mitchell.

While defending, Hardik Pandya scalped four wickets while two wickets each were grabbed by Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Mavi and Umran Malik.

Shubman Gill was awarded the Man of the Match for his exception knock. Following this win, team India have claimed the three-match T20I series by 2-1.
